• Preparation of a needs assessment, or RFP (request for proposal) for the practice or organization to send to selected vendors
• Education of staff and providers about the components, impact, and results of implementing an electronic record
• Identification of a team to represent each area of the practice or organization that will use or be affected by the use of an electronic record
• Selection of vendors to provide on-site demonstrations to the team
• Coordination and facilitation of vendor demonstrations
• Preparation of a comparison sheet to review products and identify questions
• Meeting with the team to discuss products and begin the selection process
• Assistance and support to the team in making a final decision
• Contract negotiation with the selected vendor
• Identification of an implementation team
• Facilitation/liaison with the vendor on establishing an implementation timetable and work plan
• Facilitation/documentation of meetings with implementation team to discuss necessary process redesign and prepare all staff for implementation
• Work with vendor, clinicians, implementation team and staff to make process redesign changes and support effective implementation process
• Troubleshooting, problem solving, and continuing education for all staff during the implementation process
• Support acceptance testing and final implementation steps
